5 Great Music Venues in Cardiff

Cardiff is a creative city full of unique musical acts. With Covid restrictions being lifted, you might be itching to see a gig sometime soon. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of 5 great music venues in Cardiff.

1. Clwb Ifor Bach.

Clwb Ifor Bach is a live music venue and nightclub on Womanby Street. Since opening in 1983, Clwb has become an integral part of the Welsh music scene. This is THE place to see some of Cardiff’s best homegrown acts.

Spread over three floors and welcoming all genres of music, you’ll find regular gigs from international and local bands alike. Notable past performers include The Strokes, The Killers, Super Furry Animals, Wolf Alice, and many more.

If there isn’t a live band playing, don’t worry! You’ll always be able to find alternative club nights to enjoy, or sets from world-famous DJs instead.

Open every night of the week. This quirky venue hosts weekly comedy nights, regular live gigs, open mic nights, and “Bandaoke” (karaoke with a live band).

Best of all, these events are 100% FREE. Porter’s is perfect if you’re looking to discover new bands without parting with your cash at the door! The bar has a great selection of drinks, and they do student discounts on weekdays, always a bonus!
